If you are one of the people saying you want more dynamic range from your next camera, or you won't buy a 70D or 7D II if the DR isn't extended, or that you're going to buy a Nikon or Sony because it has more JPEG DR than the equivalent Canon... please tell me why it is so important to you.

I'm not interested in answers in terms of electronic engineering, I want to know how it would make a difference to your photography. Like, what completes this sentence for you? - I want more dynamic range so that I can... (And please make it clear whether you are talking about shooting raw or JPEGs.)

I shoot exclusively RAW, never JPGs.  I want extended DR to be able to capture a shot requiring minimal PP on a fairly bright day that can properly expose sky and clouds (including the detail within them) and not woefully overexpose my subject on the ground.  Today's 7D simply has insufficient DR to properly render such an image without intense PP.  If you expose for the sky, the rest of the image will be way dark and must be brightened in post.  If you expose for your subject, the sky and clouds are often blown out.  I've been able to save images with this issue, but frankly, I don't have the time to spend 10-20 minutes fine tuning every image shot under these conditions with LR.  I'd prefer much better OOC performance.

I know better DR can be achieved with today's technology.  I've shot side by sides between my 7D and wife's NEX-7 (both taken in RAW).  No question that the NEX-7 does a MUCH better job of capturing a wide tonal range under challenging midday light. I want the 7DMk2 to deliver that sort of performance (among other things).
