Fuji HS50EXR Any good in simple point & shoot mode?
Mar 16, 2013

I've been reading the posts here on the Fuji HS50exr, as this site seems to be the  best source of info. I am looking at the camera from a more basic perspective than many posters and would be interested in people's thoughts.

Like many others i want a good camera but am not a photographer. I don't know much about advanced settings and if I'm honest I'm unlikely to learn.  I will not be using Raw files or performing any PP. I want an intelligent camera that makes up for my lack of knowledge. I would expect ill take most photos in EXR mode and I like the idea of the camera selecting the settings. (I know this is dismissed by those who know a lot about photography).

I want a camera which will give me good shots in auto mode. (Exr or equiv). Mainly family shots, occasions etc but I'd like to have decent zoom (could be Freudian thing!!). Image stabilisation is important as I won't be using a tripod.

Will the HS50 meet these needs?  (Would Panasonic FZ200, Nikon P510, canon xs50 or fuji xs1 meet these needs better)

PS To anyone with the HS50- should I buy an external flash as I read the internal one is week?

Nikon Coolpix P510 Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200
