All the high end equipment is overpriced, but side by side, if you won a contest, a full Red, Canon, or Sony system, or an 2.5K Arri with those "overpriced" Zeiss lenses, which would you choose?....especially when you know that they will have 4K when they deem it important and that your 2.5K Arri will hold it's value better then the others?

First off, most high-end Alexa feature/TV/spot shoots like to use Cooke primes and Angenieux zooms, not as much C. Zeiss glass, right?

GoPro Hero3 also can do 2.7k rez video -- unfortunately that is a non-standard resolution. We have Full-HD for television, 2K for cinemas, then we jump to 4K in cinemas and soon in television. So, as long as Arri will not have a Full-4K sensor digital camera to line-up against the Reds, Canons, and Sonys of the world, they will basically have these Full-HD + 2K Alexa Blues, right?

Once HD came in, the price of used SD cameras plummeted remember? I predict the same for HD/2K cameras once these new 4K bodies from Canon and Sony gain traction. Alexa is a great camera, although rather overpriced. Time for Arri to bring out the 4K version of it.

Just my 2 euro cents worth, mind you.

I understand what you are saying.  I just think that ARRI camera systems are the best so they are expensive.  Are you saying you'd choose one of the other systems were you to win that contest I mentioned?

You can still use Angenieux zooms or Cooke primes. I saw a Angenieux on Ebay yesterday for I think $24,000 or so.  If they came out with a 4K tomorrow how would that change your life?

Is it  because you passionately want digital, to get better,  faster so it  becomes as  good as film?  or just wait and see if GoPro 5 gets interchangeable lenses, perfect stabilization  and 4K for $499.00.

I'd sell the ARRI or start renting it out.
