Sony Mavica FD-85 review
Shooting in low light situations is terrible...too much noise. Focussing is incredibly slow, and the lcd display isn't good enough to see if it's sharp.
Metering is really bad as well...it fails in a lot of situations.
The shutter is just the most stupid thing I've ever seen on a camera. It takes so much 'power' that it's impossible to keep it still!
When you pay as much as I did ($600 for the camera, $99 for a 64 memory stick) you have to be a real idiot not to notice the incredibly poor quality it gives you.
Overall incredibly dissapointing. Nikon's Coolpix series is much better....this Sony camera isn't anything more than a toy, or a webcam substitute. After trying it for a week, next to my other equipment, I brought it back and bought Fuji Provia film for the money.
Waste of time.....or only for amateurs with no ambition to make special shots. Nice for under $250...very bad for over $500
LCD display isn't sharp enough to check focussing. Lack of usefull accessoires, like a disk adapter - don't want cables for video, cause it's a photo camera.
