Olympus D-40 Zoom (C-40 Zoom) review
Had it for a year. A wonderful little travel camera I store in a small belt-clip case. My third digital camera, and the first one I could use to take "serious" photos that are competitive against 35mm. In fact, I entered 6 prints (8x10 to 8.5 x 11) in a local competition with about 20 amateurs, and won first for color, second for B&W, 2 honorable mentions -- and many people were surprised to learn the pix were digital. Amazing amount of control, tho mostly buried in the menus. Paid $450 at Buydig, now available for under $400.
There are some image problems, e.g. purple fringes, that occasionally mar the image, but Photoshop to the rescue. Shutter delay is sometimes irksome, making sports shots all but impossible. Must always carry spare batteries. Larger, movable LCD would be nice. Wish it had a hotshoe. But it's been worth the compromises.
