Pentax Optio 430RS review
Bought it as first digicam September without doing much research.
Took a long time to realise that the default settings are not the best
way to get the best out of it. Some of the very critical user reviews
may be understandable, but I don't think they reflect the potential of
the camera. That said, other available cameras (e.g. the 4mp Canon
Ixus/Elph) are clearly more foolproof, although the manual options and
general user interface on the Pentax are excellent.
Sharpening process is very crude and introduces nasty artefacts -
better to leave sharpening setting on minimum and sharpen in
Photoshop Elements or similar
Similarly contrast and colour saturation at minimum give a better result.
All these three settings are too harsh at default.
Generally images are more 'noisy' than the competition.
