Minolta DiMAGE E323 review
Apr 5, 2004

I owned one of these briefly. I was impressed by the general performance, particularly the ease and speed of use. The image quality initially seemed very good for the price, and this is clearly a design which is capable of decent 3.2 MP performance at a low price. Lens distortion at wide-angle is lower than expensive Nikons! It's a small and very light camera with very good macro performance.

The problem I had with it was getting one which gave even sharpness across the frame - there seemed to be alignment problems. I tried different samples, which all showed slight, but perceptible (viewed at 1:1) sharpness losses along either the left or right hand side. Test images I examined on the web did not show such problems, so it was definitely sample variation. For many people, this would have been no problem at all, but I wasn't able to get a sample that didn't suffer from this fault, so was persuaded to buy a slightly more expensive camera.
