Kyocera Finecam S3L review

I bought my S3L in December 2002, and found it to be a compact, solid camera which takes decent quality photos - simple enough to be used by my kids, but with sufficient features and flexibility to keep a decent amateur photographer interested - that is, until two weeks ago....

Problems:

Until two weeks ago, I would have recommended this camera to anyone - but then, the camera started taking 'darker' (underexposed) pictures, and after a number of days, the pictures taken were just black ; the LCD display appears to be working OK - it still has the icons during photo mode and displays earlier pictures perfectly in playback mode.
I note that a very similar problem has happened to 'jwelby's Finecam S4, and wonder if it is a fault with the Kyocera Finecam range.
I am very disappointed - the camera appears to be solidly built, and I expected it to last more than 22 months.
