Ricoh Caplio R5 review
This camera has it all - on paper! Incredible zoom, lots of features, image stabilization
light and fits in your shirt pocket. Unfortunately, the quality of the pictures is very
erratic. I used a Canon digital IXUS 40 (SD300) before, and found the results infinitely
better. The colours of the Ricoh are often weird, the flash may easily wash out your
picture and at the long zoom end pictures become very grainy. Handling of contrast is
very poor, your have to do a lot of bracketing and manual adjusting. The lack of a
viewfinder is not helping.
Just never buy at the Ricoh official website - you'll get much better prices from
independent (internet) sellers.
