OM-D and RX100

Hi!

First time poster here, I found this forum when googling. I have a question regarding the image quality of the OM-D versus Sony RX100.

We own both cameras (I use the OM-D, my girlfriend uses the RX100). I use the OM-D with the Olympus 45mm and Panasonic 14mm and 20mm. I'm in no way a professional photographer but I do look at 100% view from time to time.

When looking at the pictures from our last vacation (many hundreds of them) I couldn't help but notice that the image quality was not that much different between these cameras. Even in low light situations, like dinners, her pictures where a good match with mine. She also took a lot more pictures because I got tired from lugging my setup around in a bag, so I can't help being a little envious of her choice of going with a compact camera.

My setup with the OM-D cost me well over $1700 and my girlfriend only paid $600 for her RX100. My question is, shouldn't I expect more from my camera in terms of image quality?
