Went on a firmware updating frenzy this evening. This went well right up until the oly updater software went tits and bricked my 9-18.

Any idea what it costs to get an oly 9-18 un-bricked? To make it pine somewhat less for the fjords?

If it is dead (or too expensive to fix) I'll replacing it with a 12mm f2 and pretend I never owned it. (Even though I like it.)

Let's clean everything and update all the firmwares while I'm at it, I thought. If I was going to urinate on $550 I'd rather have done so at Sinners or Choice.

This never would have happened if Tedolf was still alive.

In the USA the last time I called about lens repair (my 12mm has a slightly flattened filter ring due to the dog knocking it off the couch and having it land on its edge on the floor...optics are fine, but the slight dent makes it impossible to use a filter now), and their flat rate was $160ish for them to bring it back up to factory specs. I wonder if they will give you a break, however, since it was their firmware that was the problem.....worth a call to them, you never know.

They've email.

I will probably call them tomorrow...
