Is the Nikkor 16-85mm overrated?

That's kinda where i'm at.  It was close to perfect on my D80, but the corners are losing their bite at certain focal lengths on the D7000.  I believe that the 24meg sensor would really stress it.

Still, its performance didn't fare as poorly with the step up to the D7000 as my 70-300VR . . .

And, as i've reported her elsewhere, the rather clumsy-in-DX new 24-85mmVR is (for its focal lengths) incredible over the image field in DX.  At least my sample is . . . but no wide angle.

I needta post some pix on this.

Semi-professional in early 1970s; just a putzer since then. interests: historical sites, virginia, motorcycle racing. A nikon user more by habit than choice; still, nikon seems to work well for me.
