In search of the Scarlet Macaw....FZ200

The Scarlet Macaw is found in Central America and as far south as Brazil. In Belize they nest and breed in the Chiquibul forest reserve but from November through March, depending on the food supply, they migrate to the hills surrounding the Red Bank village to feed on the ripe fruits of the Polewood Tree.
Most Belizeans have never seen this Macaw in the wild, and so our garden club decided on an excursion to see them in Red Bank. The following assorted images resulted from our trip. We stopped at flower nurseries on the way and stayed overnight in cabins on a beach in Hopkins village. Thanks for looking.
