Actually, 1MB = 1024KB = 1,048,576 bytes, but only if you're measuring RAM.

If you are measuring storage, then 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes.

When measuring the resolution of your photo, I suspect you would use 1MP = 1,000,000 pixels.
