My *hunch* is that Aperture can't show show it but that may also be a function of what Date field is being extracted.

I also have a D300 and using the fantastic 'exiftool' utility, I see these from a randomly selected .NEF:

[hjm-mbp:~/Desktop/Personal/_m 2008] howardm% exiftool DSC_0853.nef | grep Date
File Modification Date/Time     : 2008:10:12 12:29:18-04:00
File Access Date/Time           : 2013:03:08 07:03:55-05:00
Modify Date                     : 2008:06:08 13:01:20
Create Date                     : 2008:06:08 13:01:20
Date Display Format             : Y/M/D
Date/Time Original              : 2008:06:08 13:01:20
Create Date                     : 2008:06:08 13:01:20.41
Date/Time Original              : 2008:06:08 13:01:20.41
Modify Date                     : 2008:06:08 13:01:20.41

and

[hjm-mbp:~/Desktop/Personal/_m 2008] howardm% exiftool DSC_0853.nef | grep -i sub
Subfile Type                    : Full-resolution Image
Command Dials Change Main Sub   : On
Command Dials Aperture Setting  : Sub-command Dial
Sub Sec Time                    : 41
Sub Sec Time Original           : 41
Sub Sec Time Digitized          : 41
Subject Distance Range          : Unknown
