FWiW, on the FAQ post after the announcement of these lenses the engineer referred to the 24 as "the lens we developed with Sony." Not definitive but to me that sounds like more than just a rubber stamp and some QC. Optical designs are almost an art form and I don't think Zeiss or Leica would want anybody but themselves "designing" a Sonnar, Planar, Summilux or what have you. Maybe I'm romanticizing but I think a thousand dollars is more than people would stand for buying a glorified endorsement.
