I received a horribly re-packed Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR sold as new from Amazon (fulfilled by Amazon Prime).  It was sloppily re-packed, the manual was all crinkled up from being jammed in, and the front element was filthy and possibly scratched.  The gold box was also scratched up on all sides.  I didn't even mount it, obviously.

I do fault Amazon for this even though they did fedex out a replacement (no added credit, however).  Even though I don't think they are supposed to be reselling returned items as new, but they CERTAINLY should be inspecting and repacking them (and verifying they are undamaged and clean).  I used to consider Amazon to be on a par with BH and Adorama for trustworthiness, but I think that I will use them as only the third choice going forward.

And I am a huge Amazon fanboy.

Doug
