What size photos do you use for your websites?

I will use links to Zenfolio and I am certain those to not slow down anything. I am trying to do more blogs because what I heard it can help in search engines. I use a lot of slide shows, probably too many. I think for my blogs I will use just one lead photo and then a link to a gallery.
