Yes, we've all seen that old article, and it says exactly what we've been trying to tell you all along: The RGB sensor is used for initial subject identification in auto-area mode, and for tracking of moving subjects across the image plane in AF-C dynamic modes.  It is not used to calculate any focus compensation or biases.
