How do you handle the inconsistent D800/D800E PDAF with different color temperature?

In Af-c it uses also tracking etc... so you would never be able to get a calbration.....

I can run this test all day long without encountering a single exception:  Set camera to SINGLE AF POINT (not dynamic, not auto-area, not 3D).  Then, with the manually-selected focus point on a featureless blank area, in AF-S mode, the camera cannot find focus - it focus searches and leaves the lens at the infinity stop.  Repeatably and 100% consistently.  If AF-S release priority is set to Focus, the camera will not even take an image. This is such reliable behavior, that one can use it to map out the extent of the individual AF sensors.

Now set the camera to AF-C without changing anything else.  The camera picks an adjacent point and easily finds focus.
