Marty, I agree with most of what you said.  From my view, if it's easy to upgrade the E-5 (and say an E-5 with OMD sensor or better sensor = E-7 with a few minor tweaks), then it may be worth putting it out to help sell last 4/3rd lenses in stock and the marketing of the brand - as you said, throw another bone.

So proper DLSR or hybrid micro four thirds, I think the incentive as long as it doesn't require a lot of cash to do, is there from a brand name point of view.

Certainly not the system to push vs the competitors at this point.  A sign that 4/3rds is "alive and well" would be they put out that long promised tele photo macro lens that got canned.
