Hey Cameranoobie,

How serious are you in photography? If you are a hobby photographer, it’s perfectly OK if you don’t want to invest money on a tripod. Because, capturing sharp and clear images may not be a very serious agenda for you. However, if you are an aspiring professional photographer, a tripod is as indispensable for you as the camera. In fact, in order to operate your camera properly, you would need a tripod. This is because, very often its difficult to hold your camera stably specially when you are using long, heavy lenses or using slow shutter speed. During such situations, chances of camera shakes are very high leading to blurred images. Moreover, a tripod will also keep your camera safe and put less burden on your hands when you are using heavy lenses.

So, basically the decision for buying the tripod should be completely dependent on your requirement. Hope this clears your confusion.
