At base ISO, D4 or D800? (not interested in MP)

Hello there,

I've been agonising for the past few months, trying to choose the upgrade path for my aging D700.

My choice is pretty simple: D800 or D4.

Generally speaking, take the US price of these cameras and multiply by 3, and you have a rough idea what Brazillians have to pay, with our ridiculous taxes.

A D4 is basically 15 grand around here, so consider that an investment that should endure for the next 3 or 4 years of heavy abuse.

Let's talk about the cameras:

I don't care about megapixels (I'm pretty fine with 12), I don't care about High ISO either.

What I'd like to hear from users of both cameras is how is the overall rendering.

Which one pleases you the most? (again, not talking about MP)

Which one gives the nicer "native" color rendering? I mean, the most natural colors and skin tones without further RAW processing. That's a really big deal to me.

What about highlight headroom? Would you declare a clear winner between both models?

I'd go for the D4, but I'd love to hear from users of both cameras first.

Thanks a lot
