My D600 returned from Nikon service /Shutter RPL (2 questions)
Feb 28, 2013

For a 3rd time my D600 returned yesterday from Nikon service (LA), but this time the service description sheet reads:

Service Repair Rank B2

RPL SHUTTER MECHANISM

CLN LOW PASS FILTER

CDK AUTO FOCUS OPERATION

CDK FLASH OPERATION

CDK EXPOSURE

CDK FOCUSING MECHANISM

GENERAL CHECK & CLEAN

QUESTIONS:

1= although SHUTTER MECHANISM was replaced, the EXIF data shows my pre-service actuations plus about 200 more. I believed it would reset to zero when replacing shutter.

Am I wrong?

2= could this be the end of the problem?  Does anyone have the shutter replaced and the oil-spot issue solved after that?

I didn’t have time to check my D600 extensively yet, but later I’ll perform my favorite settings (they came reset from service)  and I’ll start shooting……

My fingers are crossed…

Ed.
