Pixma Pro-1: Prints on Ilford Prestige Gold Fiber Silk are darker than calibrated screen?
Feb 28, 2013

Hi,

I recently obtained a new Canon Pixma Pro-1. I tried to print landscape shots on 13x19 inch Ilford Gold Fiber Silk paper. Unfortunately the picture is significantly darker than on my calibrated Samsung S27A850 display, calibrated by my Datacolor Spyder4 device.

Bais for my print paramaters are the instructions from Ilford:

I downloaded the ICC profile from Ilford and installed it on my Win8 PC by right-clicking.
Picture was adjusted and printed by PS CS6:

Color handling: "Photoshop manages colors"
ICC profile: correctly selected
Rendering intent: "Relative colorimetric"
Black point compensation on (=checked)
Printer driver:
Size: 13x19 inch
Quality: high
Paper: Photo Glossy II (according to Ilford)
Color/Intensity Manual Settings: "None"

Any ideas? There is a possibility to influence the brightness by the printer driver by clicking "normal", "bright" and "dark". Should I switch from "normal" to "bright"? Or is there no influence because I deactivated the color managment by the printer? There is no advice by Ilford to select "bright"...

Many thanks in advance!
