That is a worry, but processing power and efficiency and storage capability seems to be increasing faster than the megapixels are, but I agree that these things have to match or we get unresponsive and sluggish cameras. Maybe that is what is handicapping some of the Fujifilm-cameras for example; not enough processing power for the otherwise excellent sensors?
