maybe a disconnect would be something manufacturers can put into the camera software to slow us down again. back to the days when it took hours/days to get your images. one took time to study and appreciate the image(s), sometimes with chemicals dripping down your arm.

imagine thinking/visualizing what you want to capture, and setting settings. damn instant gratification.

Looking at digital images today, and then looking at old images taken with film, I think I can comfortably say that the digital images produced today just absolutely beat the stuffing out of nearly everything taken in the film era. A particularly striking example was a book detailing the history of various professional sports that made extensive use of images. Images taken before digital came along just felt lacking in quality, content, and impact. Not that they weren't good...it's just that instant gratification today has made photos so much better that expectations have been sent sky high.

I would rather manufacturers today not impose the time and medium restrictions present during the film age. It wouldn't make anything better, and would return us to the rather boring imagery of the film era, where everyone was afraid to release the shutter and therefore missed many good shots.
