That may be. However, Their method of measuring is consistent and the results are consistent across the board. Every other camera measures a higher exposure than the E-M5. In some cases that difference is a factor of two.

You may want to double check that. Phase One's IQ180's ISO100 is really ISO29--a factor of four from what I "should" be. On the other hand, The Leica M9's ISO80 is ISO144 according to DXO.

ISO is a measurement of brightness of the JPEG. DxO is measuring saturation of the sensor and pretending its ISO. Nobody is cheating or lying. Everyone is simply choosing to place a different level of priority on protecting highlights or protecting shadows by applying a different tone curve.

Is DxO's information useful? Absolutely. But its a different animal than manufacturer ISO. You're confusing two separate concepts as a result of DxO's (bad?) decision to call what they measure ISO.

That is why I checked two other sources when I saw the DXO results. The two other sources indicated almost the exact same thing. DxO Mark may be testing an entirely different thing. However, all 3 tests indicate that the EM5 will give at least 2/3s of a stop less exposure than the GH2.

For my needs that is very significant.
