Essex Camera Service of New Jersey is out of Business

I needed a CLA on my M3 and checked online with the Leica Society for recommended repair shops. I noticed they had Essex listed, and as I have had several good experiences with them in the past I decided to go with them.

I got information on the repair and shipping from their web site (http://www.essexcamera.com/index.php). (which still looks to be going strong.) Packed up my camera and sent it along with my contact information as described on their site.

As it was out for delivery today, I tracked the package and was surprised to see 'receiver is out of business'. I tried to call them at the number listed on there website and received a recording that they were no longer taking calls at that number. It was the same for their fax. When I did some web research I found that they had been hard hit by 'sandy' and no one knows what is going on with them.

Luckily I was able to contact Leica, USA and UPS to have the package rerouted to Leica's Repair department. Carmen at Leica was very helpful in getting the whole thing figured out. Kudos!
