Off load files from CF card to portable hard drive with tablet pc

Hi,
I am planning a three week trip to south west US in April. I need to accumulate photo files on portable storage in the evenings at motels. I need the functionality of my old Epson P-2000. I am now shooting a Canon 5DmII, both RAW stills and HD video (CF 32GB 90MB/sec). I expect to generate up to ~18GB per day. I have been reading threads and I think I have a concept. Using a card reader, transfer files with a 7inch tablet pc, to a portable hard drive (500GB) using a powered USB hub. Does that make sense using present day technology. Since air travel is involved, and I'll carry lots of lenses and gear, I don't have room for my laptop, thus the 7" Tab.
Since I live in the PC world I'm thinking of an Anderoid -- Nexus 7? Speed is an concern although one hour transfer time is possible, is compatibility with a 90 MB/sec CF card an issue? I hope I can transfer directly from the card to the hard drive without storing on the tab first. I haven't found a good looking portable hard drive yet, any recommendations?
Can't wait to photograph all those cacti and orange rocks.
Thanks, in advance for any help you might give.
