Fully accept your point.

However, there's a lot of people out there with NEX stills cameras who thought they were getting something special if they bought the 18200, as the only lens that had Active Mode! Just check out all the threads.

Now it seems that they weren't getting anything they couldn't have got with the cheaper lenses, say the 55210 or even the 1855.

As for the performance with video cams; I can't comment. As I say, I'd be interested to know if the steady shot is any different between the lenses on these cameras.
