Judging the camera or judging processing?

It would be interesting if sites like dpreview tried to do "fair comparisions" of cameras by using tools like dcraw to develop raw files targeting the same (neutral) look. My gut-feeling is that many cameras would look indistinguishable in most cases, indicating that most of the "look" of a certain camera lies in its built-in jpeg development.

Granted, making the side-by-side totally fair is non-trivial (color profiles? Sharpening?)
