I wouldn't say 100%. No camera is 100%, and anybody who says their camera gets perfect AF every time, under every condition, with every lens with every focus point is 100% lying!

My d800 focuses well. Very well in fact. I have several lenses that all focus reliably well most of the time under most conditions with most focus points - the side points being weaker than the middle points. Of course shooting the side AF point with a 35/1.4 under low light will be worse than the centre point with a 50mm at f8 and you're going to get some misses now and then.

But that's normal. And if your subject is moving, the success rate gets even lower. But again it's normal.

I think a lot of people are just expecting too much. My d800 does remarkably well most of the time, and that's good enough.
