While DXO's sensor tests are useful if you look at the underlying figures and charts, their lens tests are lacking.

There are big holes in their test results and given their switch to this new metric only comparisons between DXO tests are valid. There is still no test of the 14-24 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 VRII so we're missing the benchmarks for UWAs and the 70-200 range. What use is their test of the Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC if we don't have any basis for comparison? Taken in isolation a test result doesn't tell us much.

You have to keep in mind that this test of the Tamron is only for the Canon mount, not the Nikon (which is not yet widely available).  They did compare it with the Sigma OS and the latest Canon, so comparisons are there.  It will be interesting to see how it fares against the VR and VRII on a Nikon body.  This "test" of theirs seems to back a number of glowing reviews for the Canon version of the new Tamron VC.
