Moderation today is more transparent, more even handed and faster than every before. And yes, some people are annoyed because it curtails their 'fun' (trolling, baiting, insults etc), but the majority benefit. You will not be censored if you follow the rules you agree to whenever you post.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and it's ironic that Rule #2 forbids public discussion of such exceptions, which is unfortunate given that there appears to be little interest in private discussion.

In the words of one of the moderators, "Grow up a bit and pretend the forum is real life. Avoid posters you have disagreements with and be civil to all." So, in real life, what do you do when the police treat you badly? Suck it up and move on, I would guess, right?

If the 'police' treat you unlawfully you are more than welcome to contact an admin like Simon and present your case. If you read all his previous responses in this thread you'll notice that he says he personally at least reads every single complaint about moderators from forum members. So no, you don't have to just 'suck it up and move on' if you feel you've been treated unfairly or in violation of the rules. But complaining because someone enforced the rules, whether you agree with the rule itself or not, isn't likely to get you very far.

Yes, you can contact the police, and they may read the complaint, but when that's as far as it goes, presumably due to the "extraordinary efforts" that are required to read PMs and deleted posts that are, well, not worth the effort to pursue, well, yes, I'm afraid it is a matter of "just suck it up and move on".

In other words, Rule #2 combined with deleted posts does a great deal to make it easier for certain parties to appear "even handed", wouldn't you agree?
