Lightroom Lens Support for distortion correction - any differences between older vs newer models?

I just picked up the latest Tamron 70-300mm. Would it have the same lens profile as the older model? Are there usually distortion differences between newer versions of the same lens?

Looking through Lightroom's Lens Support doc, the Tamron 70-300 listed is the older model before they added VC.

Adobe lists model A17N, but the one I bought is the newer A005.

Noticing now that I probably have the same issue with my Tokina 11-16mm. Adobe has a profile for the previous version and I've always been using the newer one.
