The watercolour effect is best seen in the map. The earlier version of LR is definitely worse. There has been very little tweaking done here . . LR sharpening was off then sharpened in PS noise reduction colour was low, luminance a bit higher - nothing drastic.

I will return to this a little more methodically and give it another try - keeping your suggestion of SSharpen in mind.

Have you updated both Lightroom and Photoshop's ACR? I will do some testing myself now, and I'm downloading the updates as soon as I can. I was just wondering what happens start working with the rawfile in Lightroom 4.4 and continues in Photoshop for finnishing and sharpening if Photoshop is not updated too.

I just checked a few files of my own now in Lightroom 4.4.  The watercolor effect is gone. I am so far very happy with the results! So, no Capture One purchase from me. I can keep my workflow

I'm not sure what happened to your picture justinwonnacott. It has plenty of watercolor effect. I can see that.

I'm not so experienced in Photoshop. But I thought I would give sharpening i PS i try. So  I used the "Edit in Photoshop CS6" from Lightroom menu, and since I hadn't updated Adobe Camera Raw yet, and only Lightroom, when PS started I was given the options "Render using Lightroom" "Open anyway" or "Cancel".

If I choose "Open anyway" the file looked bad like before (since PS then was using the old Adobe Camera Raw 7.3 I guess). I tried "Render using Lightroom" and it looked good and the end result from PS looked good too. So for anyone like me not used to PS that much, one have to remember to update ACR for Photoshop too. I'm not saying this is what happened to you justinwonnacott, just a heads up for everbody else. Anyway, that is the only way so far I've been able to get the watercolor effect now.
