What Thomo said; when the lens first came out, there were reports of sample variations to include unacceptably soft corners and decentering. See if you can take sample shots of regularly patterned target(s), close ups and 12mm end should be the easier way to assess.

The HB 23 hood is on the flimsy side and very wide but IMHO a necessary evil because the front element is scary close to the (plastic) front edge of the lens barrel.

It's a beautiful lens, very resistant to flare and ghosting for a wide angle, the corners are great and it's much less troubled by color fringing than the Tokina you mentioned.
