Thanks Albert. For a lot of photographers, the NEX-6 is a great cam with all the good features you mention. As a matter of fact, I like the cam's grip, it's one of the best I have seen. The new 16-50mm lens is a fantastic combo for travel. However, the new NEX-3N is not in the same category as the NEX-6 for obvious reasons. Great price though! By the way, did Sony ever provide Auto ISO for Manual Mode shooting?
Like your pic. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, NEX-6 is a great cam. Like all cams, it has its own quirks, but once setup properly, I find it to be a very useable camera, with most of the Fuji firmware wishes already in the NEX-6.
There is still no Auto ISO for M Mode. But it does increase shutter speed to match the focal length (1/f) until you reach ISO 6400, then it starts to lower the shutter speed.
Another nice thing is that it does not require ISO 400/800 to get higher DR. The DRO algorithm simply uses ISO 100 and brings out the shadow details automatically (JPEG). You're going to lose some native sensor DR when you're using higher ISO.
I'm a VF guy, and having EVF on NEX-6 really does it for me. I can quickly review the pic, check on focus, etc. without moving my eye away from the EVF. Can't do that even with X20. The colors and contrast on the NEX-6 EVF is superb, like a plasma TV.
The latest NEX-6 firmware also brings some fixes in flash photography in additional the PDAF functionality. It is at least now useable for night time indoor shots. Before, it overexposes, and was much less consistent.
As far as X20 goes, I don't see a whole of improvements. There maybe 0.5 stop of high ISO improvement. I still see water color effect even in some ISO 500 samples. I think we're hitting the limitation of that sensor size. I hope Fuji moves to a 1" sensor in their next iteration of X compacts.
