I agree with you that contrast focus optimized lenses are needed, and that those might need a shorter registration distance.

But ... of course you can make a smaller and lighter camera.

First - think of a cylinder, with a diameter slightly more than the mount. Put that behind the lens, with a sensor in the bottom. Then think of a comsy grip to the right of that cylinder. Then put a flat, thin LCD screen behind the cylinder and the grip and add some enforcements. Thats it. Much smaller and lighter than the K01.

Now, back to the contrast focussing optimized lenses. The cylinder behind the lens might consist of two cylinders, where the front one is removable. Then you could have lenses with shorter registration distance on the same camera.

Science Fiction? Nope ... I dont think so.

Something that sells well? I have not the slightest idea. It sounds more interesting for me though.
