Thanks for doing this, very interesting.  It confirms impressions I've had of related models from Canon (my own 100HS and 500HS) and Sony (HX5V) lately.  Canon P&S photos to me have a look as if there's a glass window with a very fine coat of dust between the viewer and the subject.  Maybe that's not exactly it, but they're just not clear or crisp in some way.

I preferred the Sony pictures here in general.  The Panasonic "overcooked" the colors, contrast and brightness too often for my taste.

The Sony philosophy, including the WX150 and what I've seen of the HX20V as well as my own HX5V, seems to be based on a very keen understanding of human perception.  They use aggressive noise suppression on areas of the photo that our eye and brains don't process very finely, at least at normal size viewing.  They don't seem bothered by pixel peeping complaints, as they shouldn't be.  But the overalll image is very good at those standard sizes.  The Sonys have, in fact, taught me what P&S cameras are good for and should be used for, and to belay fretting over what 100% crops look like.  The more I see of them, especially in comparisons like the one you've done here, the more impressed I am.
