i got the d600 with kit lens during Christmas.. i then purchased a used mint condition 70-300VR from amazon of all places for almost 50% off retail.. it looked brand new and works like a charm.. I recently got a 50mm 1.8G.. it covers all my bases for now. I find I use the 50mm a lot now and when I am out and about looking for wildlife I put on the 70-300 and it has done fine.. I would love to have a 70-200 f2.8 or one of the longer 300mm or 500mm but those are way out of my price range right now.. i read a lot before purchasing the lenses i have now.. they have a sigma 70-200VR lens that got great reviews.. i would say go full frame if you can and save up for better lenses later..
