Anyone using a Pole/Jib when they go out for Landscapes? (or street?)

Ideally, non professional (e.g., you, the shooter is out for a good time).

I'd love to have 15 extra feet without renting a cherry-picker or busting into someones office to shoot thru glass anyway...

Aside from you Movie shooters (may god bless you all), does anyone here have success stories or cautionary tales involving a portable jib/boom rig / possibly with a external monitor via HDMI to a GH2?

Thanks in advance, I'm kinda lost with this quest for information, except for people holding monopods over their head...  which i'm not quite ready for, yet.
