If you have the budget for the 70-200 2.8 IS II, consider one of the following pairings:

17-40 + 70-300 IS L (most FL bang for buck - neither lens is your dream, but both *very* good, and I'd say the 70-300 IS L might even be better for your use case.)

16-35 + 70-200 f/4 IS (Your dream wide, plus just 1 stop of sacrifice on the tele that is otherwise optically just as good if not better.)
