FWIW on this old thread to update with info I've learned since posting it ...

Overall, I've found UniWB to be less and less useful, and it is a nuisance to have the ugly green cast showing on the LCD and in the RAW files. Since this post, I've gotten almost all the advantages of UniWB with essentially none of the disadvantages by using a Custom Picture Style:

  • based on Neutral
  • Contrast minimized to 0
  • Saturation minimized to 0
  • also, started using the "RawDigger" freeware to be able to closely look at actual 14-bit sensor values ... very informative
