I think that you'll probably like the d5100, Mike. I have one that I use as my "carry" camera. I'll throw it in the car, every time I leave the house. It's smaller/lighter than the d7k and I love the articulating screen. Of course, it puts out great images. Dunno that it's any better/different than the d7k in that respect, but I've not done a comparison.
First time I've heard of a Dxxxx as a "carry" camera. LOL
Really? It's small, light and takes excellent photos. It fits quite easily into the saddlebags of my bike or on the floor of the car. It replaced a Panasonic LX5 because it really isn't all that much bigger, unless I need a true pocket type camera.
What lens do you keep on it?
Usually the 18-70 or 18-105 or a couple of primes, depending on light levels that I anticipate. I just got the latter last month, so I don't yet know whether or not it will take over as the primary zoom.

Yes, per Primes. Just hoping it will be accurate wide open with my 35 F/1.8...fingers crossed. F 1.8 on my D4/50 are fine.
Thanks again Kerry.
