IR with unmodified Canon 40D and Hoya R72 filter.
Feb 25, 2013

I have been wondering for quite a while on which forum to ask this question. I finally decided this is probably where it would receive the most favourable reception.

The Canon 10-22 has a filter thread of 77mm and the R72 works fine. Now to my question.

I also have recently bought an 8mm Bower (Samyang) f 3.5 fisheye but it has no filter threads because of the projection of the front lens element denying this. The inner diameter of the builtin petal lens hood is 72mm on the longer of the petals (top and bottom). Has anyone homemade or fabricated a 72-77mm step up with the 77mm R72 Hoya and some black tape or other temporary fixture. I guess I am dreaming again. I tend to do that having been retired for 27 years now.

Regards. Jim.
