I currently use an old WinXP netbook for collating photos when on holiday and then put them onto my main Win7 machine for processing etc when I get home, however, the netbook isn't really up to the job these days and I have to get a Macbook for work anyway.

I believe I can transfer the photos from the CF card via the Macbook to an external hard-disk in FAT32 which can then be read by the Win7 machine meaning I can transfer photos both ways. However, I tried this in the Apple store today using a USB stick and when I imported the photos (from PC into the Mac) into iPhoto they moved fine but they seemed to have lost all of their tags and star ratings.

Ideally I would tag, rename, file and rate the photos as I go and then use this info when I get home.

Does anyone know whether there is a way of transferring this additional information both ways? ie if I rate and tag the photos in iPhoto I want to be able to keep this information when I move them back to a PC.

Many thanks in advance

Andy

Quick G search revealed a couple of apps that all have limitations:

- iPhoto2Disk http://www.iphototodisk.com/index.html

- Phoshare http://code.google.com/p/phoshare/

Have a look,
