Sony's plan seems pretty clearly based on moving to NEX. SLT was a hack, just as the second camera aimed at the viewfinder of my A350 was. These hacks are just ways to provide approximately the desired functionality before the tech is really ready. Two examples:
1. Eventually, computational anti-shake will replace sensor shift (and optical shift).
2. Eventually, computational processing of main sensor data will provide better autofocus than traditional separate PDAF sensors (making SLT unnecessary).
NEX is not there yet, but it is getting close... and Nikon and Canon don't have a chance against it.
