I carried out this procedure successfully on my D3200.  It does not have a micro adjustment and all the lenses front focussed slightly.  With a number of cycles of very very carefully adjusting the screws and retesting the camera, focussing is now spot-on.  The serious risks to the camera must be emphasised.   One slip and the camera is useless.  It has to be done with the mirror up on the D3200.
